@greyor @resynth1943 I browse the web with Javascript disabled by default. I have G.A., DoubleClick, and many tracking and ad sites blocked at host file and DNS resolver level. Done so for years. I am a web app builder. A Javascript expert. I'm fully aware of the danger G.A. and Alphabet present. Everyone else should be too. But how do we get to that point without turning them into web devs?

Sound advice on goal setting / organization / roles in modern (tech) organizations -> - i can recommend "Cascading OKRs at scale" article - great summary on the do's and don'ts of Objectives & Key Results.

upgraded Mastodon instance to latest 3.1.5 - lmk if there are any problems.

In times when people use management software to manage server management software to manage server management software, I often just write a bash script that gets the job done. Of course it won‘t scale. But hey, most things never need to. I like shell scripts.

A new cartridge copier / dev device has landed. This time for the Neogeo Pocket color. Thanks to RetroHQ for making this (and the new ones for Lynx and Jaguar, too!). Flawless operation so far. Recommended!

It kind of sucks that many respectable devs and even some ITSEC folks publish on If you do not have an account, you can't read the content. Also, the copies are therefore useless (almost empty) - not a great blog platform.

Awesome!! built a fully working BigBlueButton server in around 3 hours (standalone , manual install). (And the expired Sectigo intermediate cert on my domain took another three hours to remedy , sheesh.)

BBB integrates well enough into Nextcloud, btw! Such cool. No more Zoom meetings!

From the PlayStore - A comparison of needed permissions of WhatsApp vs the German Corona Warn-App. Still glad I don‘t use WhatsApp.

Retro console repair week is nearly over, and the Game Gear Screen replacement WORKED :-) good results this week.

„If it is marketed to you, you don’t need it“ - My thoughts exactly - thanks for the great article. @lightweight

Console fixing week, finale furioso - try to bring a dead Game Gear (beer spill + leaky capacitors) not only back to life, but also install the McWill screen replacement. Wish me luck.

Next retro console patient. This otherwise working Atari Jaguar CD - the teeny weeny plastic piece that broke off holds the lid in place. Not sure how it can be re-glued to last, as it has to sustain quite some force from the lid. Awful design, bound to break.

It’s old hardware resurrection week here, hooray for public holidays. This one had almost half of its screen lines not working. Now: Only 2 lines to fix. .com

Final result, working like new :-) (taken just before reassembly / heat sink et all). I could not have hoped for a better result.
