Subject: What's going on with Meta?
To: @Gargron, @ruud, @jerry, @supernovae, @stux, @trumpet, @kev and other large instance admins
Rumors are tearing this place apart out here about secret deals with #Meta. The latest is that Meta has held #NDA meetings with some of you and they will federate with large instances under contracts providing financial support (1) (2).
This is a time for leadership, not silence. Please, what's going on?

I posted a generic Mutual Confidentiality Agreement (#NDA) on my website a while back for people to download because I felt guilty charging clients to draft and prepare something so basic.
I have to include the disclosure that you should absolutely consult with a #lawyer before using the form and it is not intended as #legal advice and is only being provided for educational purposes.
Anyway, you can find a link to it on my Resources page here:
It's getting worse. Apparently there's some fediverse admins that are meeting with Meta under #NDA <https://mstdn.social/@rysiek/110548129223290575>.
This is the time to ask your admin to be explicit and clear on what their stance on the #Meta platform is, and if they're not planning on a fediblock, start looking for a different server.

This also serves as a great example of the reasons why #openbsd developers, unlike #linux developers, will not sign NDAs.
When developers sign NDAs they cannot expose vital details to their fellow developers who are outside the scope of the #NDA. The whole #FOSS ecosystem suffers when developers aren't on equal footing with regards to information available to them.
See also the "responsible" disclosure of #intel CPU bugs. The same problems exist there.
